Single drivers can use the Express Lanes anytime.

All you need is an E-ZPass® to pay your tolls. Or, set your E-ZPass® Flex℠ to toll-paying mode before traveling the Express Lanes.

I Ride in a Carpool

Carpoolers can use the Express Lanes
anytime without paying a toll.

To travel toll-free, you need three or more people (including you) in your vehicle and an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode. If you have
fewer than three people in your vehicle, you will
pay the current toll.

I Drive a Hybrid/
Have Clean Fuel Plates

Hybrids can use the Express Lanes anytime. Per Virginia law, to travel toll-free, you need three or more people in your car.

You need an E-ZPass to pay your tolls. To travel toll-free, you need an E-ZPass Flex switched to HOV mode. If you have fewer
than three people in your car, you will pay the current toll.

I Slug

Sluggers and those who pick up slugs can use
the Express Lanes anytime without paying a toll.

You just need three or more people in the vehicle
and an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode.

I Take the Bus

As a bus rider your commute won't change.

Your bus will already be equipped with an E-ZPass. If you decide to drive your car on the Express Lanes, you will need an
E-ZPass or an E-ZPass Flex.

I Ride in a Vanpool

Vanpools can use the Express Lanes anytime without paying a toll.

To travel toll-free, vanpools need three or more people (including the driver) in the van and an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode.

I Ride a Motorcycle

Motorcycles can use the Express Lanes
anytime without paying a toll.

You do not need an E-ZPass for your motorcycle. If you already have an
E-ZPass on your motorcycle, you can leave it in place when
you travel on the Express Lanes without
being charged a toll.

I Drive a Truck/
Commercial Vehicle

Trucks with two axles can use the Express Lanes anytime.

You need an E-ZPass. To travel toll-free, you need three or more people in the truck and an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode. Trucks with more
than two axles, including 18-wheel trucks,
are not allowed to access the lanes.

I Operate a Bus

Buses can travel any time on the
Express Lanes without paying a toll.

You just need to equip your bus with an E-ZPass and register with us. Request the registration Excel file from us today.

I Drive a Taxi

Taxis can use the Express Lanes anytime.

To travel toll-free, you need an E-ZPass Flex and three or more people in your taxi. If you have fewer than three people in the taxi, you will
pay the current toll with an E-ZPass.

I am a Law
Enforcement Official

Officials traveling in pursuit of their duties
can use the Express Lanes anytime.

You are exempt from toll and HOV requirements on the Express Lanes while in pursuit of your duties. You must report your travel prior to or after your trip using the law enforcement exemption form.

I Am from Out of Town

Out-of-towners can use the Express Lanes anytime.

All you need is an E-ZPass to pay your tolls. To travel toll-free, you need an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode and three or more people in your
vehicle. If you have an E-ZPass from another state,
it will work on the Express Lanes.
